The Greeneville City Council approved all items on their agenda including resolutions for establishing an attendance policy for appointed Greeneville Board and Commission members.
The attendance policy was suggested during the last meeting by Council member Scott Bullington, who said members should attend at least 50% of meetings. If the member was to miss a certain amount, they would automatically removed from their position. City Manager Todd Smith explained the resolution means members cannot miss scheduled meetings 3 or more consecutive times and that at least 50% of meetings should be attended per calendar year. Departments will be required to keep track of attendance and send the minutes to Smith every year. The exception for mebers missing meetings would be due to sickness or if called for active military service.
The council approved an ordinance (first reading) to expand the Board of Commissioners of the Greeneville Municipal Airport Authority. The board will have a public hearing for the second reading of the ordinance and two more members would be appointed to the board, making a total of 7 Commissioners. The new applicants would be the two that were previously recommended for the board, Justin Jeffers and Catherine Bacon. WT Daniels will be welcomed in a meeting this afternoon as a new board member. His appointment was recently approved after the City Council voted to override the Mayors veto vote.
Also approved on the agenda was the withdrawal of $250,000 from the joint Greeneville-Greene County Landfill Account for the renovation of the floor. City Manager Smith says it’s an aging floor, where solid waste has accumulated.
