A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH has been issued until 10PM this evening ahead of an upper-level disturbance and cold front.
The first round of storms may begin moving through the area around 5PM, with another stronger front later in the evening, around 8PM. The timing and intensity of these storms may vary.
According to Director Heather Sipe at the Office of Emergency Management, the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) does highlight NE Tennessee at a SLIGHT TO ENHANCED Risk ( levels 2 to 3 out of 5) for severe weather. Showers and thunderstorms may become severe.
MAIN THREATS: Isolated Tornadoes, Damaging Winds, Large hail, Flooding

TIMING: Peak time for the severe threat is between 4-10 PM, but rain/storms could begin as early as 2 PM. The National Weather Service advises that there will be 2 rounds with the 2nd round being the most threatening.
RAINFALL: 0.5-1.0 inch total, but up to 3 inches with heavier thunderstorms.
