A fatality was reported in an accident Friday afternoon on Jones Bridge Road.
The wreck occurred around 1:00 Friday afternoon in the 1400 block of Jones Bridge Road, near the Jim Fox Road intersection.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report, a Nissan Rogue driven by 42-year-old Allison Flanders, was traveling west on Jones Bridge Road. The car crossed the center line, left the road on the left side, and drove into the ditch striking a tree. The vehicle came to an uncontrolled final rest sideways in the road.
The driver was wearing a seatbelt, but was trapped inside the car and had to be extracted. A juvenile passenger was pronounced dead on the scene. The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt. Flanders was transported to a nearby hospital by a medical helicopter with life-threatening injuries.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Greene County EMS, The Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad and the Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is continuing their investigation.
