The Cherokee National Forest, Cherokee Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is scheduled to hold a Kids Fishing Day event on May 6 on the Unaka Ranger District. Anglers 12 years and under are invited to try their luck in catching trout. Interested participants will meet at 9 a.m. at the Dillard Place located at Upper Paint Creek.
The Dillard Place at Upper Paint Creek is located on Viking Mountain Road in Greeneville, TN. From Highway 70 (Asheville Highway) near the North Carolina state line, turn onto Viking Mountain Road and look for sign on right.
The event is sponsored by the Cherokee Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Catchable size trout will be stocked for this event. Fishing will be restricted to children 12 years of age and younger. A non-fishing parent or guardian must accompany all kids. No licenses or permits are required during this event. Participants will need to bring their own fishing equipment.
