The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development reported this afternoon that Greene County’s unemployment rate for March was 4.4 percent, down from 5.3 percent in February.
Greene County’s rate a year ago was 4.5 percent.
A total of 94 Tennessee counties experienced a decrease in unemployment during March 2023, with only one county seeing an increase in its jobless number.
Moore and Williamson counties had the lowest unemployment rate at 2.3 percent, while Meigs County had the highest at 5.6 percent.
Unemployment is less than 5 percent in 91 counties across the state, while it is 5 percent or greater in the remaining four counties.
The state unemployment rate for March decreased to 3.4 percent after the statistic has held steady at 3.5 percent for the last five months.
