A vehicle fire was reported on the 8300 block of Newport Highway yesterday about 2 PM.
The victim and his wife stated they were traveling toward Greeneville on Newport Highway, when they smelled something burning and pulled off onto Lauderdale Road. According to the report, both exited the vehicle, raised the hood and saw flames, then called 911.
No injuries were reported although there was an undetermined amount of cash burned inside the car. The complainants also stated there was a wallet burned inside, that contained multiple cards.
Caney Branch Volunteer Fire Department responded for fire suppression.
