The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development reported today that the state’s unemployment rate for March decreased to 3.4 percent after the statistic has held steady at 3.5 percent for the last five months.
A total of 1,700 new nonfarm jobs were created between February and March. Over the past year, employers added 96,900 jobs across the state.
This time a year ago, Tennessee’s unemployment rate was 3.3 percent. The all-time low jobless number for the state is 3.2 percent.
The national unemployment rate for March 2023 was 3.5 percent, down slightly from 3.6 percent in February.
