Elevated fire danger levels will continue this afternoon into the evening, as low relative humidity values will drop again into the low to mid 20s, with some upper teens possible.
Winds will increase out of the south to southwest ahead of an approaching cold front. Frequent gusts aren’t expected, but occasional gusts up to 20 mph could occur. Temperatures will be much warmer; therefore a Fire Weather Watch is in effect for portions of the TN Valley, while the rest of the forecast area is under high fire danger conditions.
The dry air and gusty winds combined with dry vegetation will enhance the potential for fires to start and spread. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities whether you may burn outdoors.
