The Greene County Commission will meet tonight at 6 PM and consider approving a reduced speed limit for Davy Crockett Park Road (second reading) to 20 mph.
A ranger with David Crockett State Park attended last months meeting and expressed the safety concerns due to increased traffic visiting the campground and park. The new speed limit will be 2.03 miles in length connecting the Chuckey Highway and Washington County Line. This includes a portion of Davy Crockett Park Road from the 3-way stop at the park entrance to the 3-way stop at Charles Johnson Road. With the suggested speed limit of 20 mph, the park ranger believes it will minimize the chances of accidents.
The county commission will review other resolutions on the agenda including appropriating $3,000 for training with the K-9 Unit from the Sheriff’s Department. $70,000 will be considered for housing at the Juvenile Detention Center as Greene County pays a fee to support expenditures related to housing.
The commission will meet at the Greene County Courthouse at 6 PM tonight in the criminal courtroom.
