The Greeneville Municipal Planning Commission met yesterday morning and approved the next steps for the Roy Allen Johnson subdivision on 1806 West Main Street.
The subdivision has three parcels of land on it with lot one being approved for a convenience store and gas station. The western section of the property has an existing cemetery which Planning Director Randy Davenport said also used to have a church on the property. That will remain as is and will not be disturbed or included in development.
The planning commission approved two parcels of land on 86 North Rufe Taylor Road, which used to be the Costa Del Sol, a Mexican Restaurant. Two veterinarians from East Tennessee Veterinary Hospital bought the property. They plan on remodeling and transition it into their new veterinary clinic, their current clinic is on Industrial Road.
Many improvements will be done on that land with the building being completely redone and the entrances remaining as is according to Davenport. The parking area which is now gravel will be paved with heavy duty asphalt pavement.
Additionally the board approved the Red Hill Landing subdivision on West Van Road. There are 15 additional parcels of land in phase 2 for the development which will include building houses and then selling the lots. Developers are ready to start constructing homes. Lots one and two were already approved previously in the 1st phase. The lots in phase 2 are all less than an acre and will provide 17 more homes.
Davenport added this is an additional 17 homes to the 31 that are already being built by Wildwood Landing, and 380 homes that are planned for the Johnson Farms Development. That’s already more than 400 homes being constructed in Greeneville currently.
