An Erwin man is facing charges after an incident in which he reportedly entered a home in the Bumpus Cove area of Washington County early Sunday morning.
According to press release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Kirk Buchanan of Erwin, broke into the home while in an intoxicated state and collapsed on top of two children sleeping on a couch. The children began screaming and woke up their mother. She immediately took the children, hid in another room, and called 911.
When deputies arrived on the scene, Buchanan was reportedly unaware of his surroundings. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center for aggravated burglary. Bond was set at $20,000. His arraignment was scheduled for today.
The children were not injured during the incident.
