A Whitesburg man was charged with DUI following an accident in Greene County on Tuesday night.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to the wreck around 11:15 PM Tuesday. The deputy came into contact with one of the drivers, Shannon Lowe of Victor Lane, who had an odor of alcohol on his person.
Lowe said that he had three beers, with the last one being approximately 30 minutes prior to the wreck. He stated that he was attempting to catch a friend and stop him from driving intoxicated.
Lowe performed poorly on field sobriety tests and blew a .137 on the intoximeter. He was arrested for DUI 1st offense and was also issued multiple citations.
There were no injuries reported in the accident.
