A truck driver was arrested yesterday afternoon after speeding into a parking lot while emergency responders were on the scene of a motor vehicle crash.
The suspect, later identified as Andrew B. Johnson Gann of Knoxville, was speeding on Baileyton Road and pulled into a parking lot trying to avoid a fire truck blocking the roadway. In the parking lot was a tow-truck and it’s driver loading a vehicle involved in the crash. Employees of the Greeneville Fire Department were able to stop the truck prior to hitting anyone.
Contact was made with Johnson Gann to investigate and there was an odor of marijuana. According to the report, an officer asked about the Marijuana smell and the suspect grabbed the remains of a joint and handed it to him. He was detained and a search was done. Several items were found in the truck including multiple containers of a substance weighing 4.7 grams believed to be Marijuana, 32 pills believed to be Oxycodone, 7 THC cartridges, 1 container of THC wax, 4 containers of cigars, a box of baggies, rolling paper, and a bag of 9mm ammunition.
He was arrested with charges including reckless driving, possession of drugs, manufacture/sale/delivery of a controlled substance, and possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia.
