A Greeneville man was scammed out of nearly $2,400 after attempting to receive his Tennessee Driver’s License through a Facebook advertisement.
The victim Ramos Vidal Silvano reported the fraud yesterday about 11:30 AM and stated his license was expired since 2003. That prompted him to try and renew his license through an advertisement he found on Facebook. After providing the required information he then made several wire transfers using ‘Intermex’, under the impression he would receive his new license.
According to the report from Greeneville Police Department, those transfers were sent to an account in Dominican Republic. The victim has been contacted by different individuals since then requesting more funds. He continued to send money although the license had not been received yet.
No further information could be reported due to a language barrier between the victim and officer at that time.
