A woman attempting to find shelter was arrested Saturday night after a dispute turned physical at a Greeneville residence.
Police encountered 29-year-old Dashana Berry in the 900 block of West Main Street Saturday evening, and reported that she was bleeding from the mouth. Berry told police that she had fallen on the road while walking and hit her head, but did not need medical assistance.
Berry said she was trying to find a place to go with a child, and arrangements were made for a hotel room. However, Berry said she did not have transportation, and instead could stay at a home in the 700 block of Carson Street.
When a follow-up was made by police, Berry was found at a home in the 900 block of Carson Street, where a man said that he had gotten into a verbal argument with Berry because she had been disrespectful to a family member of his. The man then said Berry struck him in the face and caused several cuts.
Berry was charged with assault and taken to the Greene County Detention Center. A representative from the Department of Children’s Services was also called to arrange care for the child.
