All ten local teams representing the five local high schools will have teams in this year’s TSSAA Region Tournament with games being played today and Saturday.
The girls’ bracket will begin today with the higher seeds hosting each game across the state. In Region 1-A, North Greene will host Jellico from Baileyton with tipoff at 7:00 p.m. on 95.5 FM WSMG.
Three teams will play in the Region 1-AA tournament including the South Greene Lady Rebels as they’ll host Pigeon Forge and Chuckey-Doak hosting Union County with radio coverage on 103.1 FM WIKQ. West Greene will travel for the quarterfinal round as they’ll play at Alcoa. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. for all three games tonight.
In Region 1-AAA, the Greeneville Lady Devils will host Sullivan East with tipoff at 7:00 p.m. and radio coverage on 99.5 FM WGRV. On Saturday, the Greeneville boys will also host Sullivan East in the boys’ Region 1-AAA Tournament quarterfinal.
On the boys’ side of Region 1-AA, South Greene will host Pigeon Forge, Chuckey-Doak will host Union County, and West Greene will travel to Gatlinburg-Pittman.
And in Region 1-A, North Greene will travel to begin quarterfinal play as they’ll play at Jellico. Every game in the Regional quarterfinal and semifinal are elimination games.
