Director of Greene County Schools David McLain, shared his director’s report with the Board of Education and spoke about the third grade retention Law.
He stated there are options for 3rd graders and they can retake the ELA TCAP if they do not pass. If scoring below passing or ‘approaching’ your child will not be retained, as long as they meet requirements. Those requirements include: the child having a disability that impacts reading, a child who is learning English and received less than two years of English instruction, and 90% attendance in summer programming.
