A man was arrested this morning after the Greene County Sheriff’s Department received a tip that a stolen truck was spotted at a property on Peaceful Valley Lane in Bulls Gap.
Deputies arrived around 6 AM and immediately saw the truck, which was reported stolen yesterday from Marvin Road in Mosheim, after it was stranded in a flooded field due to high waters from the rain. The original person driving the vehicle was arrested at that time and the truck could not be retrieved safely.
This morning a deputy came into contact with suspect Claude Day of Peaceful Valley Lane, who was inside a camper at the address. A search was made and keys were found for the stolen truck in Day’s pocket. Day told the deputy the truck was dropped off by a woman, but after speaking with a witness, deputies learned that Day was driving the truck consistently for the past couple days. A license plate from the suspect to a different vehicle was also found inside the stolen vehicle.
Day was arrested on an active warrant of violation of probation 3rd and is also being charged with possession of stolen property.
