A structure fire was reported at a barn on a property on Carters Valley Road last week.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department spoke with the victim who stated his neighbor noticed flames coming from the left side of the barn. A silver car was seen speeding past the scene shortly after. According to the report, there was an incident 5 days before the fire involving someone who use to live in the home. The victim believes that person could be a potential suspect as threats were made. A detective and arson investigator was contacted.
Earlier this week, upon examination of the scene, burn patterns indicate that the fire started in or around a vehicle that was parked in the structure. The vehicle was burned completely inside and out and the barn was almost completely burned with the expectation of a few larger wood beams on the ground. The report states the cause of fire was most likely intentional, but evidence did not confirm this. The investigation is continuing.
