A man was arrested on theft and drug charges after a woman reported her purse stolen on Saturday.
The woman reported to Greeneville Police on Saturday afternoon that her purse went missing while she was eating at Burger King. While looking for it, she received an email regarding an attempted use of her one of her cards at the Ok Tobacco Outlet.
Police looked at surveillance video, which showed a tall, white male wearing a heavy black jacket trying to purchase around $35 worth of products from the store. He attempted to use two different cards, but they were declined.
The suspect, Bryce Andrew, left the store and walked toward the Greene Villa Motel. He was located a short time later and taken into custody. He was found to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine. Andrew reportedly admitted attempting to use the victim’s cards to get cigarettes. After the cards were declined, Andrew said he tossed the wallet and cards somewhere along 11-E. Police searched, but could not find the stolen items.
Andrew was transported to the Greene County Detention Center on charges of theft, credit card fraud, and simple possession of meth.
