Four local teams will be in action today in various locations around east Tennessee today playing for the Girls’ District Championships.
Starting with the Greeneville Lady Devils, who are on the road to their second straight trip to the State Tournament, will play Grainger this evening for the District 2-AAA Championship from Cherokee High School in Rogersville. Greeneville would knock off Claiborne on Saturday 74-30 to advance to the title game while Grainger would defeat Cocke County.
Greeneville and Grainger will tipoff at 7:30 p.m. with the Tournament Tipoff Show beginning at 7:15 p.m. on 99.5 FM WGRV, Comcast Channel 18, and wgrv.com tonight.
Two local teams will face one another in District 1-AA tonight at David Crockett High School as the South Greene Lady Rebels will play the Chuckey-Doak Lady Knights at 7:30 p.m. Before that, the West Greene Lady Buffs will play in the consolation game against Happy Valley at 6:00 p.m. Coverage of both games tonight will be on 103.1 FM WIKQ with the Tournament Tipoff Show beginning at 5:45 p.m.
Two rivals will clash in District 1-A as the North Greene Lady Huskies will play the Hampton Lady Bulldogs tonight from West Ridge High School. Coverage begins with the Tournament Tipoff Show at 7:15 p.m. with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight on 95.5 FM WSMG and jewel955.com.
All five girls’ basketball teams have earned a birth in the Region Tournament set to begin on Friday with Greeneville, South Greene, Chuckey-Doak, and North Greene all playing at home on Friday evening while West Greene will be on the road.
