The investigation is continuing after a body was found early Tuesday morning in a cornfield and a positive identification confirmed that is was 16 year-old Danielle Owens of Greeneville.
Owens has been missing since December 11th of last year. Family members have been asking for help for months to find her and suspected her disappearance was odd and unlike her. Owens ran away before but was still in contact with her family. This time, they didn’t hear a word since the 11th of December, 2022. Without any legit facts and uncertainty, several were on the haunt to find Owens. A search was done with many volunteering to help her family and a drone was even flown over an area near a quarry, close to where she allegedly was last seen.
The teens body was found after midnight Tuesday, lying in the middle of a cornfield after someone reported it to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. The cornfield is located on the 300 block of Doughtys Chapel Road, close to Owens last known location. William L. Jenkins Forensics Center in Johnson City did an autopsy and confirmed positive identification late Tuesday. The Greeneville Police Department along with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are handling the case.
Greeneville Chief of Police Tim Ward and Captain Steve Spano told Radio Greeneville News they are still investigating the cause of death and will release information once there is any update on the case.
