Two were arrested yesterday afternoon after evading the Greene County Sheriff’s Department during their attempt to do a traffic stop.
A vehicle was seen driving in the middle of the road near the 3000 block of Middle Creek Road about 3:15 PM. According to the report, the deputy attempted to make a traffic stop but the vehicle kept going, pulled into a driveway, then continued to drive around the back of the house. The driver, later identified as Paul Carter of Midway, exited the vehicle and began to runaway. Multiple attempts were made to get Carter to stop before the deputy released his K9. Carter jumped into a creek and crawled up an embankment before the K9 was able to pull him back down towards the deputy.
At that time, the original vehicle was seen driving away towards Middle Creek Road. The deputy called for backup. Brittany Mayhew of Afton was later found and detained, and had been the passenger of the vehicle. Both Mayhew and Carter were arrested with charges including evading arrest.
