Two Greenwood Drive residents were arrested after reportedly lying to police about an accident.
An officer with the Greeneville Police Department responded to Greenwood Drive around 10:45 AM Monday on the report of a hit-and-run accident. Anaya Shears said the driver of an SUV left the scene after striking her Honda Accord while she was pulling into her driveway. However, the damage to the car was not consistent with the story Shear was telling. It appeared as though the car struck a fixed object.
A passenger in the car told police that Shear was lying. The passenger said that Dominic Rosenbaum had been driving the car an hour before, lost control, and slid into a concrete pole under the underpass at Snapps Ferry Road and East Andrew Johnson Highway.
Rosenbaum was inside the Greenwood Drive apartment. Rosenbaum, who had a suspended license, confessed that he crashed the car and Shear was not in the vehicle when the wreck occurred. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to maintain control, and driving on a suspended license.
Shear was arrested for giving a false report. She later said she came home from work and was trying to get insurance to pay for the damages to the vehicle.
