A line of showers with moderate to heavy rainfall is expected late tonight through Wednesday morning. Gusty winds are expected to develop after midnight tonight and continue into Wednesday in the mountains and foothills. Wind gusts of 70 mph to possibly as high as 90 mph are expected.
In the Tennessee Valley, winds will increase through Wednesday morning, with gusts of 40 to 50 mph possible during the day. Strong, gusty winds will be ongoing across the entire area.
High Wind Warnings and Wind Advisories are in effect for portions of the area tonight and Wednesday. South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected From 10 AM to 7 PM EST Wednesday. Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Light snow accumulations are possible in higher elevations of the mountains Wednesday night through Thursday evening.
