Girls: South Greene 76, Chuckey-Doak 40
The Lady Rebels would win their third game in a row taking down the Lady Knights led by 22 points from both Jordyn Roderick and Madison Hensley. South Greene remains unbeaten in conference play this season, but will next face a non-conference test in Rutledge at rival Grainger on Friday.
Girls: Greeneville 64, Cocke County 60
The Lady Devils would find themselves down by four at the end of the 3rd quarter, but a strong showing in the fourth quarter would keep the Greenville winning streak intact now sitting at seven games. Lauren Bailey and Lindy Carter would each score 16 points in the win on the road. Greeneville will get a much-needed break as they won’t play against until next Tuesday at Claiborne.
Girls: West Greene 91, Johnson County 62
The Lady Buffaloes found their offense early and often against Johnson County and would put up 91 points in the win 91-62. Kinsley Ellenburg would lead all scorers with 27 points while Taylor Lawson added 19, Breanna Ellis added 17, and Madi Brown finished with 15 in the big West Greene win. The 91 points is the most a West Greene girls’ basketball team has scored since the ’80s.
Boys: South Greene 67, Chuckey-Doak 65
Chuckey-Doak erased an 18-point deficit to storm back at home against rival South Greene, but in the end, Jase Roderick would drive down the floor and score a layup with 2 seconds left in the game to secure a win for the Rebels 67-65. With the win, South Greene takes over the top spot in the district while the loss snaps the six-game winning streak. Roderick had 11 points in the win while South Greene was led by Hayden Birdwell with 18 points. The Black Knights were led by Isaiah Treadway’s 22 points while Christian Derry finished with 20 points.
Boys: Greeneville 58, Cocke County 37
Greeneville would bounce back from a tough loss Saturday to Farragut with a solid defensive effort against Cocke County leading to a 21-point victory. Adjatay Dabbs would lead the Greene Devils with 18 points while Jayquan Price added 11 and Trey Thompson added 10. Greeneville is 11-9 this season, but a perfect 4-0 in district play.
Boys: West Greene 60, Johnson County 59
Looking for some momentum after alternating wins and losses since the New Year, West Greene would secure a key conference win over Johnson County on a putback at the buzzer to defeat the Longhorns 60-59. The Buffaloes sit at 10-14 and 2-2 in district play with a big game looming on Tuesday as Mosheim will welcome South Greene to, “The Range.”
