One person died after an accident on the Newport Highway last night. The wreck happened around 8:15 pm near the Masengill and Gibson Roads intersection, in the 6500 block.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating. EMS, Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad, Greene County Sheriff’s Department, and the Caney Branch Volunteer Fire Department responded. The wreck is the fourth traffic fatality of 2023.
