A structure fire was reported on Saturday at a home on Burkey Road in Greeneville.
A deputy from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department reported the fire as he noticed an enormous amount of smoke coming from the roof of the residence. The owner of a propane company that is located beside the house, was on the scene and stated he was not sure if anyone was still in the home. The door was kicked open at that point and a dog came running out.
According to the report, before the deputy made entry into the home, a red truck was seen flying up the yard. The driver, who lived in the home, jumped out the vehicle and immediately ran towards the front door. Several attempts were made to get the victim out.
Finally, the deputy was able to get the victim to come out, but the victim ran back into the residence two more times. He made it out just before the roof began to collapse and ammunition inside went off.
The Fire Department was on the scene and stated they believed the fire started from a blender in the kitchen. All animals and people made it out the home.
