Three vehicles remain on Cold Spring Mountain after being stuck in snow, drivers and passengers were rescued Sunday.
The Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad was called to Horse Creek Park just before sunset when the stranded people called 911 for help. Rescue Squad Captain Bobby Matthews said three vehicles and six occupants had become stuck in snow on the off road trail that goes from the park to the top of the mountain.
Rescue Squad volunteers used several four wheel off-road vehicles to reach the occupants and bring them off the mountain two at a time. Matthews said there was two to three inches of snow and ice on the trail to reach the vehicles, which were about three miles up the mountain. The last couple was brought out just before midnight.
The Rescue Squad was supported by volunteers with the Debusk Rehab Unit.
