A man looking at his cellphone is lucky to be alive as he walked in front of a train on around 11 AM Saturday.
The man, who was crossing the railroad tracks in the vicinity of the old Pet Milk Company, told Greeneville Police that he was looking down at his cellphone and didn’t hear the approaching train.
The Norfolk Southern train was heading into town and barely stuck the man, knocking him down. The train came to a stop just past the 70 Bypass crossing, about a half mile past where the man was struck.
EMS responded to the scene, but the man, who was not identified, did not need treatment and refused transport to the hospital for evaluation
