Radio Greeneville News spoke with Meteorologist Sam Roberts at the National Weather Service in Morristown and he says the Winter Storm Warning will be in effect until tomorrow morning.
Snow will start falling soon in the higher elevations with possibly about 4-8 inches accumulating through Saturday. Meteorologist Roberts said snow will continue all day in the Mountains, the lower elevations could see some snow flakes later this morning but will be receiving mostly rain on and off. Roberts said the warning is mostly for the Mountains.
There could be some isolated spots and slick roads as the temperature drops. Be careful if you must travel. Lower elevations will be receiving rain tonight as well which will transition into snowfall in the evening and overnight, with a ½ inch of snow forecasted.
Additional minor snowfall accumulation from a 1/2 to 1 inch is expected Saturday morning through early afternoon across the higher elevations of east TN. Little to no accumulations are expected across the lower elevations of the Tennessee valley.
