A man has died from injuries he received early Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle accident on the Erwin Highway.
The wreck occurred around 2:20 AM, near the Hickory Hollow Road intersection. A Ford F-150 driven by Larry D. Hammer was traveling westbound on Erwin Highway and ran off the right side of the road. The truck then went over an embankment, struck a tree, and caught fire.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol accident report stated that Hammer was injured, but an update was provided and THP confirmed that he did die as a result of the crash.
