Two people were arrested following a traffic stop on Monday in which a vehicle reportedly had switched tags.
A Chevy truck traveling with tags registered to a Buick was stopped around 5:20 PM on West Andrew Johnson Highway near the Hal Henard Road intersection.
The driver, Nicholas Jeffers of Oakland Road in Limestone, said the truck has not been registered in a long time and was the only vehicle he had that is running. A passenger in the truck, Tyler Ramey of Carters Valley Road in Mosheim, had an active warrant for violation of probation.
A K-9 deputy was brought to the scene and gave a positive alert on the truck. A baggie with 4 grams of meth was found in the center console, along with a cigarette pack that contained half a white pill wrapped in plastic. A dollar bill was also found folded up with 1.5 grams of meth and a glass pipe was stuffed between the passenger seat and middle seat. Jeffers claimed ownership of the cigarette pack, but neither man claimed ownership of the meth.
Jeffers was charged with possession of a legend drug, felony possession of meth, violation of vehicle registration, and violation of the financial responsibility law. In addition to his outstanding warrant, Ramey was charged with felony possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
