The Greeneville Board of Mayor and Aldermen will meet this afternoon and have the second and final reading to rezone a property on 1806 West Main Street, known to be the Marathon Gas Station.
A new Marathon Convenience Store and Gas Station, similar in appearance to the existing facility, will be added directly across the street. The new location would allow a better and safer entrance into the Gas Station, as there have been numerous accidents near that intersection reported.
The board will also consider funding a new pay plan for town employees for the 2023 year. The board is currently entertaining four options, each of which would increase that annual amount by over $700,000.
The first option would place all employees to the nearest pay step of their current pay, placing most employees on step one.
The second option entails increasing one pay step for employees with 10 or more years in their current position.
The third option includes increasing a pay step for employees with five or more years experience in their current position.
The fourth option suggests a pay step for each of the first three years in a position, with no pay step after three years.
The Greeneville Board of Mayor and Aldermen meets at 4 PM today in the G. Thomas Love Boardroom at Greeneville Light and Power.
