David Crockett Birthplace State Park is one of the many parks in the state participating in First Day Hikes and will have their first day hike beginning at midnight January 1st.
The hike will be around 1.5 miles round trip. The park advises all to wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for the weather! Bring a flashlight or headlamp. For the hike, all should meet at the David Crockett Homestead (next to the visitor center) 15 minutes prior to the program start time.
The park will be firing off a flintlock rifle as the clock strikes midnight. The cost is $0 to attend, but donations are accepted. For more information contact the Park Ranger at 423-948-7990 or email Chelsea Walters at [email protected].
