Radio Greeneville News spoke with Meteorologist Kyle Snowdin at the National Weather Service in Morristown this morning, regarding the upcoming cold front and snow starting Thursday night.
Rain will begin around midnight Thursday with a 90% chance, before changing into snow. Winds will increase to 15-25mph with gusts as high as 45 mph. Wind chills near -15 in Valley locations and near -25 in the higher elevations could cause flash freezing on roadways.
Meteorologist Snowdin said snow is expected to begin around 3 or 4 AM Friday morning with an accumulation of a 10th of an inch throughout the day. There will be persistent snowfall throughout the afternoon but no more than 1 inch is expected at this time. Strong wind surge of cold air is a concern and power outages are possible with high winds forecasted.
