A Chattanooga woman was arrested in Greene County on Monday for theft and public intoxication.
A deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department arrived in the 6000 block of Old Asheville Highway on the report of a possible stuck vehicle and intoxicated driver.
Upon arrival, there was a 2012 Kia Sportage off the roadway stuck in the woods. An NCIC search showed the vehicle was stolen out of Cleveland, Tennessee in Bradley County.
The suspect, Tasha Wolfe of Chattanooga, claimed to have driven the car up from Chattanooga and she had purchased it a few days prior. She appeared to be under the influence of some unknown substance. Wolfe was talking incoherently and unable to stand still. She reportedly made unusual statements like the vehicle had government tags and that she was waiting on an Indian boy to come back out of the woods.
Wolfe was taken into custody for theft between $10,000 and $60,000 and public intoxication.
