A Construction update on the Depot Street Project states that work will begin between Loretta Street and Cutler Street this coming Tuesday. It will include the intersection of Cutler and Depot and the Federal Courthouse and the Post Office will remain accessible from the Irish Street side of the block while construction begins at Cutler. This closure is for the installation of the new storm drain and electrical systems. According to a press release, the intersection should only be closed for a week, reopening well before the holidays, but there will be an update when it has officially reopened.
The block of Cutler and Irish Streets is open to local traffic until crews begin concrete work on that block. Be careful around the fenced off sewer drains.
Depot Street between Irish and Main remains closed as crews continue with the installation of curb, gutter, and sidewalks. Between Main and College remains accessible to local traffic but closed to through traffic. The intersection of College and Depot Street is open, as is Academy Street.
As always, use caution while accessing this area.
