Police responded to a report of a crash in the parking lot of Walgreens Friday night.
Officers arrived at the Walgreens on East Andrew Johnson Highway Friday around 9:30 PM Friday. They spoke with an individual from EMS, who reported the driver in another vehicle had tried to leave the scene and appeared intoxicated.
Officers spoke with the man, Charles Carter of Old Tusculum Road, seated in the driver seat of the Toyota pickup, and reportedly could smell the odor of alcohol from him.
Carter performed poorly on Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence.
