Tusculum basketball standouts Inady Legiste and Blayre Shultz have been named the Zaxby’s Athletes of the Week for the week of Nov. 7-13.
Legiste, a junior forward from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, averaged 17.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in leading Tusculum to a perfect 2-0 record last weekend at the South Atlantic Conference / Peach Belt Challenge.
Legiste shot 60 percent from the floor for the weekend as the Pioneers are 2-0 for the third time in the last four seasons. He posted 15 points and four rebounds in a 94-85 win over USC Aiken. He followed with his second career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in an 88-77 win over Clayton State.
Shultz, a senior guard from Morristown, Tennessee, averaged 19.5 points per game and shot 64.3 percent (9-for-14) from three-point range to help the Pioneers to season-opening wins over Mount Olive (65-50) and North Greenville (93-40) at the SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge.
Shultz collected 18 points and three steals in a 65-50 win over Mount Olive and scored a game-high 21 points on 6-for-9 from beyond the arch in a 93-40 rout of North Greenville.
