An armed robber made off with nearly $3,000 cash during a holdup late Tuesday night at the Creekside Market on the Asheville Highway.
Deputies from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the store around 10:45 Tuesday night and found two men and a woman hiding inside. The victims said that the suspect wearing a black mask and dark glasses entered the store with a handgun, pointed the gun at them and demanded the money.
The suspect made one of the victims turn off the lights, and the suspect removed approximately $1,000 from one box, about $500 from a second box and just over $1,400 from the cash register. The suspect also took a set of keys that had the store key and a victim’s car and house key on it. All three victims were forced inside a cooler and the front door to the store was locked by the robber.
The Greene County Criminal Investigations Department was called to the scene as part of the investigation into the armed robbery.
Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Detective Sgt. Jimmy Willett at 798-1800 ext. 1518.
