Plans continue for the 2022 Greeneville Christmas Parade, which will be held on Sunday, December 4 starting at 2 p.m. in downtown Greeneville.
The parade route is the same as in recent years, starting at the intersection of North Main Street and Bohannon Avenue and traveling through downtown before dispersing in front of the Crescent School on West Main Street.
This year’s theme is “Christmas Around the Globe” and participants will be challenged with creating a unique float or decorated vehicle that exemplifies a specific place and its culture from around the world.
All participants in the parade must fill out a registration form. The parade will be capped at the first 100 to sign up. The deadline for submitting registration forms to the Greene County Partnership is Monday, November 28 if 100 entries have not already been approved by that date.
High school and middle school marching bands, cheerleaders, dance teams and ROTC will be free, along with one emergency vehicle per department, veterans groups and dignitaries. Other groups will be charged between $20 and $50 apiece depending on which category they are entered.
Those registering must also claim their intention of competing for prizes if they plan to do so. No free entries in the parade will be eligible for prizes. Prizes will be awarded for commercial and non-commercial and are $100 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place.
Registration forms for the Greeneville Christmas Parade are at the Greene County Partnership office, located at 115 Academy Street. For more information, call 638-4111.
