A Mosheim man was seriously injured Monday when he pulled into the path of a tractor-trailer along the West Andrew Johnson Highway.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 83-year-old Richard Nalley of Mosheim pulled from a stop sign on Spring Street into the path of a 2007 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by 56-year-old Kenneth Renner of Whitesburg. The impact pushed Nalley’s 2015 Nissan Frontier off the roadway into the grass, while Renner’s truck hit a guardrail before ending up in a ditch.
Nalley, who was cited for failure to yield, was taken by ambulance to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment of suspected critical injuries. Renner had minor injuries to his knee. Both men were wearing seatbelts, according to the report.
