A man wanted on felony warrants is facing additional charges after wrecking his motorcycle during a police pursuit early Wednesday morning.
Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office sent out information regarding a motorcycle traveling down Erwin Highway being driven by James McInturff, who had felony warrants out of Washington County.
A deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department saw the motorcycle and pursued it around 2:30 AM. McInturff reportedly traveled down Erwin Highway toward East Andrew Johnson Highway, then made a right turn and started out bound back toward Washington County. The deputy pursued him into Washington County, where McInturff lost control in a curve on Urbana Road and hit an embankment.
McInturff had a revoked license and is also a convicted felon. His backpack contained a loaded 9 mm firearm and some loose ammunition. The motorcycle had switched registration.
McInturff was airlifted to a local hospital following the wreck. I
In addition to his outstanding warrants, McInturff is facing charges of felony evading arrest, driving on a revoked license 8th offense, and unlawful carrying of a firearm.
