During its regular meeting on Tuesday, the Greeneville Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a policy regarding children in the workplace.
The policy does not allow children of town employees to routinely be in the workplace. There are exceptions, including if school or a daycare center has an altered schedule or if a caregiver is sick.
The board also approved a grant agreement with TDOT for traffic signal upgrades at the Vann Road and Asheville Highway intersection. The total will be $100,000, with the town responsible for around $18,000.
The purchase of a 2024 Mack Side Loader with Tipper for the Public Works Department was approved as well. The original quote for the vehicle in March was $245,000, but by July the price went up to nearly $255,000. The original price was included in the department’s budget. If needed, the budget will be amended for that additional cost.
Lastly, the board approved a taxi cab permit for V2K Express.
