The Greene County Commission met Monday night at the Greene County Courthouse.
The commission voted unanimously to appropriate $50,000 to represent Greene County’s share of the match required to purchase a portion of the former Greene Valley Developmental Center property as part of the joint Industrial Development Board. The City of Tusculum and the Town of Greeneville had previously voted to make similar appropriations at recent meetings.
Also approved were authorizations to apply for a childcare community development block and Federal Lands Access Program grant money for road improvements in the Cherokee National Forest area, and approval of the sale of excess equipment by Solid Waste. A resolution to appropriate nearly $25,000 of American Rescue Plan funding to replace membranes at the North Greene Utility District water treatment facility was also approved, along with funding up to $25,000 to purchase a replacement walk-in freezer at Animal Control.
Proclamations in honor of EMS Week, National Skilled Nursing Care Week, Child Abuse Prevention Month and Foster Care Awareness Month were also read during Monday’s meeting.
The Greene County Commission will next meet on Monday, June 20.
