A 17-year-old male died in a single vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon on Highway 11-E near the Jonesborough Flea Market.
According to Washington County Sheriff Keith Sexton the crash occurred around 4 p.m.
The preliminary investigation by the Crash Reconstruction Team determined that the vehicle was traveling well above the posted 65 mph speed limit when the driver, the fatal victim, lost control due to weaving in and out of traffic and struck a metal utility pole.
Two other passengers in the vehicle, including one other juvenile, were transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Motorists traveling either toward Johnson City or Greeneville were rerouted while the investigation was underway and the accident scene cleared.
Names of those involved are not yet available.
